Get a OpenAI key

The default choice — GPT-4o / 4o-mini / o4-mini. Works directly from the browser.

💰 Pay-as-you-go. gpt-4o-mini is ~$0.15 per 1M input tokens — a few dollars covers heavy personal use.

Open platform.openai.com and sign in (or create an account).

Go to Settings → Billing and add a payment method, then add a little credit (e.g. $5).
New accounts must add credit before a key will work — this is the step most people miss.

Open the API keys page → Create new secret key. Name it “kapus”.

Copy the key (it starts with sk-…). You can only see it once.
Lost it? Just create another and delete the old one — no harm done.

Back in Kapus → My Page → + Add key → pick OpenAI → paste → Save.

💡 Tip: create a Project key with a monthly budget cap, so a leak can never run up your bill.
